Aw-neen, OSS. Next Monday, September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to recognize that “Every Child Matters.” It is also Orange Shirt Day, which we can all wear to show our support.
This day matters because residential schools happened here, in a country we call our own, a land considered to be a world leader in democracy and human rights.
This day matters because we share this land. We may not be responsible for what happened in the past, but we are all responsible for our actions today.
One way to be active is to join us next Monday during Period 2 for a sacred fire where we can all show our unity to move forward in a good way. You can sign up to attend this gathering in the front office or in Andaayang. Meeg-wetch.
Yesterday, the Junior boys volleyball team took on Banting Memorial High.
Unfortunately, a slow start and losing the first two sets. However, they never gave up.
With solid defence from our middles, consistent serves, and excellent team cohesion — OSS took the next 3 sets to win the game!
Yesterday the Sr. Girls Flag football team travelled to Collingwood for their second league game of the year. On offence Ava H. moved the ball very effectively to a variety of targets and kept Collingwood on their heels throughout. In total Ava threw 5 touchdown passes, three to Angelica D., one to Raygen H. and the last to Rhiannon W.
The defense was able to stop Collingwood on all but one of their drives. Haley B. had a great pick early in the game to set the tone and we almost had several others.
Final score was Nighthawks 32, Owls 7.
