Morning Announcements for February 24, 2026
Posted on 02/24/2026

Today we celebrate musicians like Ella Fitzgerald, whose contributions have shaped global music culture. She started by singing  the streets of Harlem in 1934. Then became singer, songwriter and composer over the next 60 years. Sometimes referred to as the "First Lady of Song" and "Queen of Jazz".

Attention all members of student council!  We will be have a meeting for ALL MEMBERS starting today at 10:45 in room 300. See you there!

According to the 2024 Homelessness Enumeration for Simcoe County and the Orillia area: 1,080 people were experiencing homelessness county-wide, with about 21 per cent (227 people) in Orillia.  Orillia winters can be harsh, imagine the plight of those who face homelessness and food insecurity, especially during the freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall.

Having warm clothing and safe shelter can make all the difference.

That’s why Students for Change is taking action in two ways. We are raising money for the Coldest Night of the Year, a winter walk that supports local organizations helping those experiencing homelessness and hunger. We are also hosting a Winter Clothing Drive to collect coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and other warm essentials for members of our community.  So, check your closets for gently used winter gear and consider donating towards the community. Thank you!

For all students in Grade 9, 10, and 11 writing the University of Waterloo math contests, they will take place TOMORROW during period 1 in Room 215.

Please check your email for more information.

All former book club members are asked to return their copies of The Martian to Mrs Williamson ASAP. As we have sadly disbanded, this will be the last return you need to make. Again, please return all books to Mrs Williamson as soon as possible.
