The Nighthawks Baseball Team swept a doubleheader on Friday. The day opened with a crucial victory over our cross-town rivals from Twin Lakes. The boys found their hitting stroke and crushed their way to a 13-7 win over the overmatched squad from across town. After that the Hawks soared over Eastview with a 10-1 game that found their opponents unable to hit the superior pitching from Orillia. Practice today on the back field and then we play another double tomorrow.
Go Hawks!!!!!!!
Hey OSS! Students for Change is hosting a hygiene drive for The Green Haven's Womens' Shelter! Globally, around 500 million women and girls don't have access to, or lack adequate feminine hygiene products. Until next week Friday, please bring any hygiene items to the table in the foyer. Hygiene items could include feminine hygiene products, hair products, soap, dental hygiene products, etc. Together let's make positive change for women in Orillia!
On Friday, the girls slo pitch team improved to 3 and 1 on the season with wins over Barrie North and Innisdale. After a bit of a slow start, the girls battled back with timely hitting from Sophia L., Elllie S. and Sophie H. to secure a 12 - 8 victory. In game two, the Nighthawks dominated the undefeated Invaders 14-3 with solid team defence led by Kloe N. at shortstop and a balanced offensive effort. Paige B. was stellar on the mound for both wins and the day was highlighted by a gold glove performance from Makayla H. at second base. The regular season wraps up with a home double header at Kitchener Park this Wednesday.
Just a reminder to all those students going to Italy and Greece that there is an important meeting at the start of lunch in room 337.
Over the past month and a half, a new student resource has been in the works, this resource is called “The Community Closet” which will allow every student access to clothing of all sizes, hygiene products, and food items. We are very excited to announce that this resource will be available for student access Monday May 11th. If you are looking for access to this room, please get in touch with a trusted staff member or scan one of the confidential QR codes posted around the school in order for a teacher to connect with you.
