Last Friday, the Jr Boys football team travelled to Barrie to take on second ranked Maple Ridge. After a first quarter touchdown by Jace C. and failed conversion OSS was up by 6 and showed determination on defence as they shut down the Maple ridge rushing attack for long stretches of the game. In the 4th quarter however, Maple Ridge recovered a fumble and ran it back for the touchdown with the conversion giving them a 1 point lead. They then scored again on a long run to go up by 8. Not to be outdone, OSS put together a 10play drive which included a 40 yard pass to Chase M. to finally score on another Jace C. touchdown but unfortunately, with a chance to tie, the team was not able to score the two point conversion and Maple ridge ran out the clock for the victory. The coaches continue to be impressed by the teams effort and look forward to the final regular season game against Innisdale on Wednesday.
The Senior Girls Hoopers had an outstanding weekend at the Barrie Showdown Tournament. The Nighthawks opened the tournament with a gritty defensive performance against St. Joes of Barrie in front of the St. Joe's fans. Some clutch 3-point shooting and stout defending shut the crowd up, as OSS finished ahead of their hosts with a 9-point win. The second game against Thousand Islands from Brockville was tough, as the squad had their only loss of the weekend to the eventual tournament runner up. The Nighthawks final game was a huge win against Lo Ellen Park from Sudbury, as the Nighthawks out rebounded their opponents and secured a 12-point win against a very disappointed Lo Ellen team. Tough luck for them. But a very positive 2 and 1 record for our team.
Next action is today at Barrie North.
Goooooooooo Hawks!!!!!
This past weekend, the Jr. Girls Basketball team brought heart, hustle, and high energy to the Barrie Showdown tournament!
🔥 Game 1: The girls came out blazing, seizing an early lead and never letting go. With rock-solid defense and smooth, confident scoring, the team clicked beautifully on the court—building momentum and belief with every play.
💪 Game 2: Facing the top-ranked Barrie North squad, our team showed true grit. We battled fiercely from start to finish, matching intensity and pushing limits. Though the scoreboard didn’t swing our way, the fight and determination were undeniable.
⚡ Game 3: Saturday’s final matchup was another high-octane challenge. Against a fast-paced, full-court press, our girls adapted quickly and held their ground. Despite a narrow loss, they walked away with valuable experience and a deeper understanding of the game.
👏 Huge congratulations to the team for their teamwork, resilience, and growth throughout the weekend. You made us proud—keep pushing, keep learning, and keep bringing the fire!
