Do you enjoy making crafts? If so, pop by the "craft corner" in room 221 every Thursday for the months of April and May! This week's craft is a DIY affirmation pennant. You don't need to sign up ahead of time, just pop in! Spots are limited based on materials. Check out our posters around the school or see Mrs. Munro for more info.
Today for women’s week we are focusing on careers.
Although 82% of women are in Canada’s workforce, women are still underrepresented in certain industries and leadership roles.
For example, women are outnumbered in STEM fields.
In leadership positions, women hold only 25% of vice president positions, 15% of CEO positions, and 27% of seats in our government.
Women also earn 89 cents for every dollar that male workers make.
As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg said, “women belong in all places where decisions are being made”. Women do belong in all levels of the workforce and when we educate women, we educate entire generations.
Come to the foyer today at lunch to explore career opportunities and remember girls with dreams become women of vision.
Mural Club meets this week Wednesday at Lunch and Thursday after school until 4 pm in 322. New members welcome! Please see Ms. Cooper-Wagner or Ms Dunn if you have any questions. Community service hours are available!
